Eid Baking

Today insha Allah is baking day in anticipation of eid (will it be Sunday, will it be Monday?). My daughter will be making her truffles again (see iftar post for pic), my other daughter will be making banana bread with chocolate chips from the Margo Oliver cookbook. Masha Allah. I'll be making two recipes from the latest Azizah Magazine; the Marzipan Apple Cookies and the Snow Heart Cookies plus a Dora cake as promised to my 5 yr old daughter. What's in your oven?

  1. You've officially motivated me to get off my butt and start Eid baking too! Thanks! I've made that particular Dora cake many times your girl will love it inshallah. Make sure you take a pic of it after you're done!

  4. Masha Allah..those are done with fondant. That is the third Wilton's course. The second is Royal Icing which is usually used for weddings. Looks like fondant is the most popular type of cake icing now though. Its hard to open a store though when most people want cakes for non-muslim holidays including birthdays. How would you get muslims to buy cakes on days besides Eid? That would be a problem but there is the wedding cake idea too.

  5. Eid-Ul-Adha is coming up in November, or so the Internet tells me. I have Muslim friends in another city and, though I am not Muslim, I would like to send them some baking. Do you have any suggestions for festive Eid baking?

    Thank you!
