Reviving the Islamic Spirit

This is a shout out to all the attendees at RIS this year. May Allah increase you in ilm and taqwah. Today is the first day of the conference there are still two days after that too so its not too late to change your mind and join everyone else. I'm not going this year but I will be there in spirit! I'm happy to know that Barakah Life will be there this year as well as Soundvision. This conference is really growing. I wish I would have went though when Raihan had come to perform. Here are some tips from a former attendee: put your bracelet on really tight or you will lose it and have to buy another one and bring a backpack or bag for all your belongings and keep it close. Also bring a notebook to jot down anything inspirational and bring a list of books you've spotted on my blog (hehe) that you would like to buy. Remember to give salaams, give charity and make new friends/contacts. Use this opportunity to gain great barakah. Have fun too! Read an article about the first day here.

Love the new look, very warm colours on a very cold day, very welcome (furnace is on the fritz!!).
RIS was great, although the crowds were overwhelming. Great to see so many Muslims of all backgrounds coming together, but I don't really do crowds! Some very inspiring talks too, I believe they sell CDs of many of them on their website, so if you couldn't make it, you don't have to miss out completely.
Shukr had a stall in the bazaar, they were selling some lovely things. My daughter lucked out and got two l-o-n-g tops!
Lots of yummy books too, the Thinker's Recourse brothers always have interesting books you don't find elsewhere. They know me and my son well by now, lol.

Glad you had a great time. I heard it was really crowded this year with people pushing. Not so good. It wasn't that bad the last two years. I also heard Allah Made Me Funny was really funny. My daughter picked up two books for me from my list..Ufo's in the Quran and Turning the Tide. Masha Allah for the new look of the blog..my oldest daughter helped me out with it. I chose the background all by myself though rofl.

  4. ew, I think you just got spammed.

Yes, there was a bit of shoving and pushing, and I had to kick the occasional "brother" out of the sisters' section. grr. The comedy show was great fun though, wonder if there is a DVD?

  5. I have no idea if there is a dvd for that event but I know they have a dvd for sale from before. Wished they would have had them when I went before.
