Popeye's is not halal?

I guess this might be old news to some of you but I just found out. Apparently not all Popeye's have hand slaughtered meat as of last year. I've also heard rumours that besides the chicken a lot of their products are not halal either. I have no proof  of that though but I've been told the gravy has pork for instance. I never eat gravy since its made from blood anyway. Sigh...this is depressing. Already we can barely eat out anywhere. Popeye's is where we eat once a month.

  4. Really? I hope so.Insha Allah will check it out. I read the reviews though on Zabihah.com and they were all bad. Hoping for a good experience.

  5. I went on the weekend to the Heartland location and they verbally verified that the chicken was now hand slaughtered. The food was all good except my daughter said the burger wasn't (she ordered that herself) and the pies which tasted like they had been cooked in chicken oil were awful and I couldn't even eat them. Service was fine too.

  6. I work in popeyes, the oil the fry everything in isnt lard but has some type of pork in it, the side orders all contain pork, the chicken is not halal the only thing that is halal is the fries and once they put them in the oil that ruins it

    1. The Popeyes I go to uses beef talon to fry their chicken and fries. I only eat the mashed patatoes with no gravy and the mac n cheese as my sides.

  7. Also it amazes me that 80% of popeyes are owned and operated by muslims, isnt that haram to feed other muslims pork without then knowing, or lying saying there is no pork

  8. Coming from a small town that dont really has many halal restaurants, we asked the staff and the manager in one popeye's branch in toronto, they verified that everything on the menu is halal. Chicken are properly slaughtered the Islamic way, so, please kindly verify your source/info, since this will be fitna to our muslim brothers who are trying hard to earn halal incomes by providing halal foods/restaurants, which fulfill fardh kifaya and greatly benefit people like us.

    1. The side are not halal. Don't trust their word. Ask for physical proof. Ias a muslim eat the mashed patatoes without the gravy. I abstain from their green beans annd redbeans. Try halal popeyes

  9. This news article in from Nov 2nd 2011. Its possible things have changed. Lots of people say things are halal but they don't mean hand-slaughtered. They consider machine slaughtered halal ie the company Zabiha Halal uses machines; something they openly admitted at the Halal Food Fest. The onus is on the owners to provide up-front proof of their zabihah status. If Popeye's is worried about their bottom line they should step up and rectify any problems and remove any doubt from the customers' minds. Its time the halal slaughter practices become transparent. And all ingredients need to be verified ie are the burgers also halal or made from non-halal meat with just the chicken on the bone being halal.

  12. Here people r desperately trying to find a non halal Popeye's and you're complaining the opposite. I literally cannot eat Popeye's in the GTA anymore because it's ALL halal

  13. I get its your religion and I respect that. But what about people for whom it's against their religion to eat halal? I literally cannot eat at any Popeye's in the GTA anymore or most Mary browns I've seen. Is it because the owners are just pretending to give a sh*t about their own people while lining their pockets with money from the halal food market?

  17. I have no proof. Fried food is detrimental to health anyway. These corporations hate Muslims and healthy people. There are MANY food industry secrets.

  18. We used to eat popeyes chicken sandwiches a couple of times a year, we don’t usually eat fried food. Then I asked the Pasadena, CA store what they fry the chicken in and they said lard in July 2020. We don’t eat swine so no more Popeyes.
