Has anyone read this book yet? I finished it weeks ago along with my daughter. In fact my daughter (dd2) read it first and kept nudging me to read it so she could discuss it with me.
I haven't read this book. I saw the first novel by this author, "Does my Head Look Big in This?" in the bookstore last month and wanted to get it but it was just too expensive! Sadly, ordering from Amazon is not an option for me.
I think it is great that your daughter wants you to read the book and to discuss it with you! Go for it!
Are books more expensive over there? Do the libraries over there have english books? You should blog about the libraries there..I've never seen a blog post like that.
I haven't read it yet, I still have it though. Ugh! For you I will. Let me finish this amish book, then I'll make myself read it. Maybe I'll like it. Sorry for hedging. Aischa
Asalaamu alaikum, Just finished it. ALhamdulillah. Wheew! glad she doesn't go out with Timothy, my parental antennae were twitching the time. The first part of the book was hideous for me, just because I can't handle or understand anymore teen ignorance (bullying, racism, too much focus on image and dating). Guess you can tell what kind of Mom I will be... : ( Once the book included her family and identity it was much better, I could breathe. I actually had fun with her family. Reminded me a lot about what I have read in Diana Abu Jaber's books about family---I love all of her books...
The adventures of a Canadian Muslim convert with 10 kids who is married to a Malaysian. Homeschooling, baking, swimming, reading etc...there's something for everyone.

Amish book? I just got a book on tape called Plain and Fancy. Still have to listen to it though.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry though I've planned to choose some of your choices in the future.
