November Book Club Pick - Love in a Headscarf
Tomorrow insha Allah is November so I hope all you avid readers have gotten your hands on the next book pick; Love in a Headscarf. If you don't have it yet ask someone to get it for you for Eid or buy two and give one to a friend. Let's grow this book club; tell a friend, put the book club widget on your blog, get your library to order the book so more people can read it and join, buy the book and lend it to a friend or family member etc. Looking forward to some more members!

Now I can start this ...whoo hoo.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else started it? Its ok so far.
ReplyDeleteOk this book reads like a textbook for Islam 101 and Pakistani culture 101. Her family's history was interesting though. Its starting to get a little more engaging but you have to wait until you've read about 100 pages. I hope it gets better because right now I would only recommend it to Anthropology students.
ReplyDeleteAnyone else reading this? I just finished it yesterday, masha Allah. If you haven't reached the 100 page mark, don't give up, it gets way better. I really enjoyed it. It kind of makes you want to be single because there are so many perks but searching for love for that long must be very difficult. I can't imagine what its like to have parents looking for candidates for me since I never grew up as a muslim. Who on earth would my parents ever choose, lol? I don't want to give away too much in case you guys haven't finished reading yet. I wanted to get it out of the way as Eid is coming up. Still time to get this for someone on your Eid list! This would be a great gift for a non-muslim as well as it completely explains Islam and searching for love the halal way and also how muslims feel on so many issues.
ReplyDeleteAnybody out there in book land? I've passed this book on to my daughter. No guarantees she'll add her comments here though, cough, cough. I've also passed onto her The Size of a Mustard Seed. The end of the month is getting close. Have you started the book yet? What do you think of it so far? Or have you finished it? How did you enjoy it?
