Dresses as jilbabs.
I know its a bit unorthodox but with this summer heat I've decided to wear dresses as jilbabs. These 100% cotton dresses are perfect as they are lightweight and cool. Choose them in light colours and you are even cooler. People wear abayas as their top layer so its pretty much the same thing. In fact most abayas are even thinner than dresses. Anyone else use dresses as an option in the summer? Here and here are two new ones I've added to my wardrobe. Shukr has added some new jilbabs too. I'm pleased that they are making thier jilbabs a lot more edgy now. If you like what you see, click on my shukr ad on the right side of my blog to order. :)

Asalam Alaykum sis,
ReplyDeleteHave you looked at Islamic Design House? I got one from there (nice and edgy) and the fabric is FANTASTIC!! 100% cotton, nice and light and breathable - but still fully covered. They are also much for "funk-i-fied" than the shukr ones. They aren't in Canada, but I was able to get mine in US$ when our dollar was stronger, and it was free shipping (and no customs) - so all around, a sweet deal!

For the record - I wear dresses as jilbabs as often as I can!
Wa Alaikum Salaam
ReplyDeleteSo I'm not cheating then? I have seen Islamic Design House jilbabs but they are always non nursing friendly so I always avoided them. Also they look tight to me but I read that they are now making them looser. Free shipping is a sweet deal. Did you have to order a certain amount to get that?
Nope - i just ordered 1 jilbab (I didn't want to order too much in case I didn't like it). I paid $52US I think they did have an "if it's over $50 you get free shipping" but EVERYTHING is over $50!
ReplyDeleteI really like mine - but you're right, not very nursing friendly.
As salaam alaikum,
ReplyDeleteI always were cotton in the summer, maashaa Allah. I have several from www.loveunspoken.com They are custom made and offer zippers for nursing. I can't see how people can function in polyester in the summer?! My motto is if you want to stay active with your children, you have to wear cotton!
Wa Alaikum salaam
ReplyDeleteSeems like those ones are a cotton blend and not 100% cotton. There are some interesting styles. I like the front pocket hood one. Which ones do you have? The ruffled ones are nice too.
