Convert/Non-Convert Divide

I got this article from Lampost. I think the author touches on a lot of topics that converts have been mentioning for years including in the Convert Truths. I wish the author had come up with more concrete ideas for change though in his essay. ie if the immigrants are not to be held responsible for the education (aside from social programs) of converts then who is?

It's so interesting all these articles that you're coming up with. We've recently had a new Sheikh come to the mosque (Dr. Reda Bedeir) who feels strongly about the way that Muslims tend to "abandon" converts once they've converted. We are having bi-weekly meetings focusing on issues that the convert community is facing. One week will be an Islam 101 type of thing (for the newer converts...and reminders for the older ones) and the other week will be things like "Dealing with culture vs. Islam" or "Interfaith Families" etc. I'm excited!

Nice to see a mosque become proactive in this field! Maybe you could take notes and post them on your blog..that would be great for the rest of us stuck in dinosaur mosques.
